Description :

Infinity is French Touch's 3D engine. It's probably the only 100 percent Rave based 3D engine on the PowerMac (Rave stands for Renderer Acceleration Virtual Engine and is part of QuickDraw 3D).

Infinity is used in our upcoming games: WaterRace and Lords of Steel, but also in our already available tools: Fusion, WaterRace Terrain Builder, D-Fusion, Chronos, Rasterizer...

Infinity is available for licensing for non-game development purposes only.
Don't hesitate to contact us.

Features :

  • Works with ATI chips or 3DFX boards,
  • Optimized for ATI Rage 128,
  • 16 Bits or 32 Bits rendering,
  • Diffuse and specularity calculations,
  • Lambert / Gouraud and Phong shading,
  • Corrected texture mapping,
  • Texture with alpha mask (1 or 8 Bits),
  • Real-time effects like fog, lens flares and soft shadows,
  • Hardware Z-Buffer (16 or 32 bits) and transparency,
  • Linking,
  • Skeletons,
  • Linear or quaternion interpolation,
  • and many, many more...

Software and hardware requirements :

Infinity runs virtually on any PowerMac, since at least one Rave engine (the Apple software engine) should be available.
But to get true performances, you need a PowerMac with onboard 3D hardware acceleration (see the list of these Macs on the Infinity FAQ page) or a PowerMac with a graphics card that provides 3D acceleration (see the list of some of these cards on the Infinity FAQ page).

More to come...

Infinity OpenGL: we may also develop an OpenGL version of Infinity compatible with all the latest 3D boards.

Infinity Glide: we may also develop a 3DFX version of Infinity to use directly the 3DFX boards without going through the 3DFX Rave Driver.
